Tidings and Hark! The fading and howling winds of change still lingering, still sounding the alarm of a new era of how job seekers prepare for interviews, search jobs, apply on-line, post resumes, choose careers, and most importantly, present themselves to potential employers. Perhaps a general fading harbinger to all, to adapt, garner the new tools, and survive in a new season; or simply a singularly purpose call to job seekers and professionals to revisit their beliefs on all matters to do with employment and careers.
For Generation X’ers and a great deal of Generation Y’ers, the business world has changed significantly—demanding a new skill set, reliance on technology, and the devaluing of “face-time” interaction in favor of digital mis-communication—at least initially, before you are expected to demonstrate your ability to articulate who you are while marketing your talents. But I linger, the fact of the matter is, we are in a new business era that demands we trade in our old proverbial bag of tricks in favor of a new bag that embraces the times, technology, our beliefs about “how we did it”, and of course, that awakens the professional in us all to do extraordinary things. Though they be fading, the howling winds of Change represents not doom and inertia, but rather the opening of a new door—if so inclined, to be so enriched.
